Unlikely Addiction
You can long for a wish or smooch a bong for a kiss,
You might just like yourself or someone else is your fix...
If life's a-bout hit or miss --- it's still subliminal fighting,
The drugs are the street's bait, just please wait - a "criminal's" biting...
We love American Idol, sit and share a vote, we'll decide,
Will? --- Angela? Pamela, Sam or Tamara? - It's final!
....
Vinyl albums played by the Happy, they're satisfied...
"What could I desire when I've found the fire I had inside?"
It's funny what we're really addicted to...
It's not what we've got but what can't be bought or done business through...
It isn't true that we're smarter --- we're the Earth's vulture...
Swallow yourself in the hollow mouth of our culture...
It ain't weed, it's smokin blunts and rappin'---
Its not booze, it's "Nothin' to Lose," & "What's Happenin?"
It isn't fame, it's Hollywood, Ferarris and Parties...
It's not the money, it's a summary of morality's lotteries...
Is it destructive to trust your luck will give back?
To gamble with your soul's candle - "I musta missed that..."
This is the fifth rap that I've written in three days...
Is that my unlikely addiction or do I fight the affliction in these ways?
It's not sports, it's an excuse to be wild,
It's not Six Flags, it's the bliss we have being a child...
It isn't sex, it's loneliness, we want to be slept with...
It's not pride, it's what we've got to hide when we're deceptive...
It's not commercials, it's the TV we're watching---
It's intrapersonals that fills more billboards that don't cost a thing...
It isn't us believing that our lives are important,
It's rejection of ego when we go from reflection to absorbant...
Don't mistake it for cravings, it's the source of our habits...
We might have labelings but the cable brings us our status...
Rich or poor, we afford it or sit still contorted...
Don't ignore it, your fate's screaming to escape being --- support it.
We need our shelter --- food, water and clothes
It's healthier to include few rather than most...
We gather in close, and hope for more time,
Addicted to life is a sickness that's indigenous to your kind...
It's these unlikely addictions that makes me write these inscriptions...
Of what we would be if we could flee our restrictions...
It's our obsessions with life, ourselves and our system ---
That keeps the questions unanswered that man has heard from his prison...
...Earth...
